EMSCU would like to present Excel Workshop #2!

By popular demand from our first workshop, we are going to continue doing more of these workshops and this time it will be even better! For this next workshop, we are having Henri Dardha as a lab instructor, a PHD Economics Student and Software Advisor for the Economics Department.

Here are the potential skills in which Henri will cover (we will have the lesson materials finalized by Sunday and we will send announce here and on our social media):
Intermediate Functions (SUMIFS, COUNT, VLOOKUP, INDEX...etc.)
Professional Business Charts
Cleaning data and texts
Pivot Tables
Filtering, Grouping, Sorting data
Solver, Goal Seek
Data Analysis (Regression)

This workshop is for basic (ex. SUM, IF, linking cells, basic formatting) and intermediate (ex. SUMIFS, solver, regression) excel users. People who know nothing about excel will find this workshop challenging. You must be a Ryerson Student to sign up to this event. You will be using your Ryerson id and password to login to the computers in the lab.

Big Data & Analytics Case Competition

EMSCU is proud to present The Big Data & Analytics Case Competition (BDACC) sponsored by IBM.

On March 21st, we are partnering with the Ryerson Marketing Association (RMA) and UofT's Economics Students Association to bring 3rd and 4th year students a one day, cross-disciplinary case competition focused on Big Data.

Students will be placed in teams of 5 to compete for the $2,500 grand prize.

The Economics Management Science Course Union would be happy to present a new and unique event for students on March 10, 2015 at 6:30PM – 8:30PM in TRS 2154.

IBM is coming in to teach a lesson on Bluemix and Watson Analytics, a relatively new software program that businesses are starting to adopt such as IBM to help analyze data. Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to learn new software skills that can help you in your professional career! This is for preparation for an upcoming Case Competition, more information on this will be available shortly.

Industry Networking Night

The EMSCU Industry Networking Night creates an opportunity to bring a strong community of professionals from various industries together for a productive night of networking. The key function for this night is speed networking. Each table would have a designated industry professional where in students would be able to ask questions about their experiences for about 20 minutes before the tables rotate. After the rotations are done, there will time allocated for students to approach an industry professional that they wish to continue talking to.
